: I am from Minneapolis, Minnesota. I went to Sevastopol in August. A majority of the population in Sevastopol speaks Russian vs. Ukraine. Not sure if there is much difference, but that might be helpful to know. I stayed at the Yard. I liked it and the service was great, but it's location is not so good. It is a good distance from the center of Sevastopol. I paid $75/day through a travel agent, but have since discovered through the internet that the actual rate charged by the hotel is $27/day. If I went back to Sevastopol, I think I would try to arrange to stay at Hotel Sevastopol. It is right in the center of the city, and very close to all of the night clubs, reasarants and every thing else that's happening in the city. The surroundings near Hotel Sevastopol are much nicer. They have all day taxi's in Sevastopol that cost $20 or $30. There is a main highway that runs near the Black Sea coast to Yalta. I would recommend you do this (nice views). My understanding is that there are many places to hike between Sevastopol and Yalta too. I didn't do it, but I saw many hikers while stoping at places on the way to Yalta. Also worth mentioning, I believe the area around Yalta is usually much warmer than around Sevastopol. Hope that helps. Are you coming to Sevastopol from Simferopol? If so, I think you could have a taxi take you there for $20 or $30. Have fun!!: : : I'm travelling to Sevastopol at the end of March from Canada. Any suggestions on where I should stay or what I should see? This is my first time to the Ukraine and I have been practising my alphabet and Ukrainian language so I should be able to get by (No, I'm not of Ukrainian decent. I'm actually a Irish Canadian) I'm 33 and I love hiking, drinking, smoking and meeting the locals. Any suggestions would be apreciated. Please, I'm not looking for a travel agent or accomodation. Just suggestions. : : Thanks Thanks for the terrific advise. I'll be training it down from Kiev though but I'll definetly stay at the Hotel you suggested. |
